Set up Homefellow with your AI assistant
An AI assistant that can run commands on your computer, such as Claude Code or Codex, can set Homefellow up with you. One that can’t run commands, such as a chat in your browser, can still guide you step by step and explain what each command says.
Paste this into your assistant:
Help me set up Homefellow, a private helper for my family that runs on a computer at home.Read https://docs.homefellow.org/llms.txt first, then the setup guide for agents athttps://docs.homefellow.org/agents/setup-guide.md. Follow it.Ask me before anything that changes my network or firewall, or that calls my AI models.At the end, tell me in plain words what's set up and what's left.What it will ask you:
- the household’s name, your name and your time zone;
- which AI model server to use, if it finds more than one;
- whether to run the model test, which takes a minute or two;
- whether to turn on the home network, Tailscale or reaching it from anywhere, each in plain words;
- whether to change the firewall, showing you the exact command first;
- who to invite.
For your assistant: every page on this site is also plain Markdown (add .md to its address), and
llms.txt lists them. llms-full.txt is the whole site in one file.
Questions later. Your assistant can answer questions about Homefellow too: give it this site’s address and ask.
