Privacy, in plain words
Your family’s information stays at home. Homefellow runs on a computer in your home. Everything it learns and everything you tell it is kept on that computer. The AI runs at home too. Nothing is sent to us or to an AI company.
What does leave your home:
- Reaching home from anywhere, if you turned it on. The household’s computer keeps a small encrypted connection to Homefellow’s relay, so your phones can reach it away from home. The relay passes on traffic it can’t read. It sees which devices talk to each other, when and how much, never what’s said. You can turn this off, or use another relay.
- Reading the accounts you connect. Homefellow reads the email, calendars and messages you choose, from your providers, on the household’s computer. What it reads stays on that computer. It writes only to the one calendar you chose as its own. It never changes your other calendars and never sends email.
- Updates. When you update, the household’s computer downloads Homefellow from
releases.homefellow.org.
Where the household’s information lives: on its own computer at home. That’s your answers, your notes, the household’s calendar, what Homefellow knows about each person, your photos and recordings. Your own phones and computers reach it there. If you connect calendars or email, Homefellow reads them and writes its own calendar into the account you choose, so that calendar also lives with your calendar provider.
Nothing changes without you. Homefellow suggests and reminds. It won’t change your other calendars or your accounts. What it assumes, it marks “Assumed: needed?” and waits for your yes.
It shows its work. Every item says where its information came from: whose answer and when.
It’s open source, so anyone can check exactly what it does with your family’s information.
Nothing is used to train an AI model. Your answers teach Homefellow your family’s ways, on your own computer. Nothing you share is used to train an AI model, here or anywhere else.
